Travelling Through Canada Series - Winnipeg
56Planning Where To Go
Our family is planning a wonderful trip this summer. It is going to be a week long and we would like to see another part of this wonderful country of Canada. So, we have been through Ontario and parts of Quebec, and next year are planning a trip to the east coast. This year because we only have about 9 days total, we are going to drive to Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Why Manitoba?
I have been asked this a few times now. I guess we just have that sense of adventure that sends us to odd places. We are able to find the beauty and wonder just about anywhere, and where else could you go to see herds of bison in a local park? There is also a wonderful water park that will hopefully still be open when we go and on the trip up we plan on taking a ride on the MS Chi Cheemaun.
Preparing Ahead
The route that we are going to take will bring us through Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay and all the little towns along the way. We plan on stopping in local parks for meals and break times and hopefully we can find some nice beaches to enjoy as well. I don’t think Canadians realize the diversity of our country and how wonderful a Canadian vacation can really be. We live in a society where people need to get there fast and just don’t stop to enjoy the journey. Canada has a lot to offer, we just need to open our eyes!
We will be travelling with a handful of kids, so we are starting to write up our list of preparations right now. It is never too early to start. On our list is: clothes, toiletries and all those necessities. We also have on their games, puzzles, iPods and videos. Some practical items would be the snack containers and drinking bottles. We will have some pencil crayons and colouring books. We can’t forget the travel insurance for Canada, which I think many people forget about when they are not leaving the country but they are traveling outside their home province. It would come in handy for our family for sure, we have seen our share of unexpected issues while travelling. Our camera is something we also tend to forget a lot, we need to put that to the top of our list.
This is going to be a very memorable trip for our family, heading out on new adventures and learning some more about the culture of our country.
